YouthHubAfrica; Call for Consultancy for Video Documentary (2025)

About 1.4 billion people live in 55 African Countries. Though thirty-two (32) of these countries have signed on to the Free Movement of Persons Protocol as of 2018, only a few citizens know or are aware of its intrinsic value or the possibilities of this vital protocol as an existing legal framework committed to by their countries.
The Free Movement of Persons Protocol was agreed on in 2018 as a follow-up to the African heads of government’s commitment to conclude the protocol on the free movement of persons, right of residence, and right of establishment. The protocol aligns with other essential AU priorities, including Agenda 2063, the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and international migration management policies.

According to a 2022 African Union-supported GIZ Migration factsheet, refugee and migration flows within the African continent are considerably more pronounced than those to Europe or other regions. For Africa to achieve Agenda 2063 and the SDGs, its citizens must be aware of and knowledgeable about the Free Movement of Persons protocols and be able to engage their national governments for necessary activation.
This project will promote the inherent potential of migration and free movement in Africa by understanding citizens’ perceptions, raising awareness of benefits, and replacing the existing culture of apathy with eagerness to explore the continent and Africa’s opportunities.
