Applications are now open for the 2027 AWARD Leadership Program. The AWARD Leadership Program for Emerging African Women in Science is a customized learning experience for young African women in science under 35. The program will equip participants with the skills and confidence to lead and innovate in the scientific world.
The underrepresentation of women in leadership roles ultimately affects progress toward sustainable development and achieving global sustainable development goals. To ensure women’s effective participation in leadership, women must access learning opportunities to gain skills that will equip them to lead effectively. The AWARD Leadership Program for Emerging African Women in Science is tailored to address some challenges that impede young women’s growth into leadership in science.
The two-year non-residential Fellowship seeks to strengthen the capability, confidence, and influence of African women scientists to lead and contribute to climate-responsive agricultural research and agrifood systems.
The Fellowship targets mid-career African women agricultural scientists working in national agricultural research institutions, government ministries, universities, and international research organizations in Egypt, Morocco, Ghana, Nigeria, Sierra Leone, and Senegal.
