The general role of a media assistant will be to support the team while carrying out certain media-related tasks. A successful candidate will identify and resolve diverse issues as they arise, which often requires interpretation of existing procedures and processes and independently determining the appropriate application. The job holder will work on projects in line with the guidelines and regulations of the organisation, outsource for clients through marketing, shoot and edit both still and motion pictures.

Main duties and responsibilities will be:

Program Planning

  • Work closely with the Executive Director, Program Manager, Media manager, and other team members to understand program goals and to meet expectations
  • Edit short videos as scripted by the team
  • Graphic design of promotional and campaign materials, e-flyers, etc.
  • Shoot videos for clients according to specification
  • Take and edit photographs at events that require photography services
  • Contribute to information-sharing and data management systems
  • Compile monthly and quarterly reports, on time and with accurate data
  • Maintain flexibility to take on added responsibility as and when needed

Coordination

  • Actively participate in relevant working groups and contribute to interagency initiatives
  • Contribute to the positive image and overall credibility of the organization, notably through the application of the organization’s Code of Conduct
  • Takes notes of regular team meetings for the program office use. Work with other Program Assistants to coordinate work activities, meet deadlines, and provide support where needed.

Functional Skill Set:

  • Vast knowledge of Adobe creative suite (premier, lightroom, photoshop, and more)
  • Vast knowledge of cameras and handling.
  • Experience in working with a media firm
  • Demonstrate initiative and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to prioritize within a multi-tasking environment
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Excellent communication skills

ELIGIBILITY

  • A degree in Photography and Film, Graphics, or related field from any reputable school (a Master degree will be an added advantage)
  • Three years experience in working with a media firm, in a similar role, will be an added advantage
  • Ability to exercise sound judgment, to remain flexible to a changing environment, and to make decisions independently
  • High level of computer literacy
  • Demonstrate willingness to work in a team
  • Prior experience working on media projects
  • Ability and willingness to travel within the country and across the region on a regular basis
  • High level of independence, creativity, and commitment
  • Strong analytic and communication skills, ability to write clearly and succinctly under time pressure, and to make well organized verbal presentations
  • Ability to work under high pressure of work
  • Have a passion for creative works
