The right to basic education is a fundamental human right recognized in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (1948) and in the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child (CRC), which was ratified by Nigeria in 1991. Education makes it possible for individuals to access other human rights. The Education sector in Nigeria faces numerous challenges such as inadequate funding and lack of transparency and accountability in the sector.

In addressing this issue, YouthHubAfrica (Anchor) and 4 cluster member organizations (Bridge Connect Africa Initiative (Bridge Connect),  Development & Integrity Intervention Goal Foundation (DIG), Kayode Alabi Leadership and Career Initiative, Women’s Rights Advancement and Protection Alternative (WRAPA) are implementing a project “Accountability for Good Governance in Education (AGGE)” with the support of the USAID-supported Palladium SCALE intervention. This project focuses on enhancing good governance in the education sector through transparency and accountability in the work plan of the State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB), the disbursement and implementation of the UBEC funds in Kwara, Kano, Ebonyi, Kebbi and the FCT.
