The lockdown put in place to curb the spread of the COVID-19 virus brought about an unprecedented surge in the cases of GBV in Nigeria. The lives of women and girls are at risk, as they experience varying forms of Gender Based Violence, with little or no help being made available to them. This is because a large portion of the resources are being used to battle the pandemic.
This webinar aims to lay emphasis on the response of CSOs such as the Dorothy Njemanze Foundation and the Dinidari foundation to the surge in GBV cases during the COVID-19 lockdown. This will help the journalists get a full understanding of the situation at hand and help them in their reporting of GBV cases in the country, especially in the use of the available data and statistics.
