The AGN wishes to contract one or more junior negotiators through a programme of support. This programme aims to enhance the capacity of the AGN and African Ministerial Conference on Environment and Natural Resource (AMCEN) on climate change to actively and effectively engage in the implementation of the Paris Agreement and participate in UN climate change negotiations. As part of the AGN efforts to strengthen capacity of the AGN, countries, junior negotiators and technical experts to effectively support lead negotiators and if needed take part in the negotiations on behalf of the continent at the UNFCCC negotiations, the AGN Chair is looking to appoint a junior negotiator of the AGN. The junior negotiator will be appointed to provide support to the lead coordinators of the AGN in the UNFCCC negotiations.
This appointment will provide an opportunity to support the AGN and build the capacity and experience of the junior negotiator, by working with, and learning from experienced negotiators of the Group.
ELIGIBILITY

DUTIES
Duties to be undertaken include, but are not limited to:
Providing Support to the AGN, including;
- Assist AGN coordinators in drafting and editing AGN opening and closing statements
- Assist in the coordination and preparation of the Group’s submissions
- Assist in organising AGN Lead Coordinators and Strategic Meetings
- Perform other duties requested by the Chair of the AGN or lead coordinators through AGN chair’s team
- Provide technical research support to lead coordinators on key issues in the negotiations.
- Follow and report on key developments and processes in relation to key agenda items in the negotiations.
- Write regular blogs and content for the AGN Website
- Communication and Outreach- ensure documentation of specific outcomes and lessons learned for future junior negotiators to build upon.
