Would you like to acquire knowledge that will enable you to contribute to achieving Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 5: Gender Equality and Empower all Women and Girls? Here’s an opportunity to learn as well as network with other young persons across Africa in a movement to advocate for the End of FGM.

Background
Female Genital Mutilation is a harmful practice that is driven by cultural and social norms among many ethnic groups in Africa. Available data indicates that majority of people in countries where FGM prevalence is high; think it should end, however, there must be a change in the social, religious and cultural norms that drive this harmful practice. It is against this background that YouthHubAfrica and the African Youth Commission have partnered to accelerate the end of Female Genital Mutilation and harmful practices by 2030.

Therefore YouthHubAfrica and African Youth Commission with support from the UNFPA/UNICEF Joint Programme on the Elimination Female Genital Mutilation invite applications from Youth leaders, Youth-led organizations, Youth Groups, and young individuals across Africa to participate in the African Youth Virtual Academy on Ending FGM .
This course is aimed at increasing knowledge among young advocates to mobilize and advocate for laws and policies that end FGM. The Project is being implemented in Guinea, Uganda, Nigeria, Senegal, Gambia, Sierra Leone, Kenya and Zambia.
