50 Percent (formally the Global Youth Engagement Program) is a global community of young people, in partnership with Penn State University Sustainability Institute and the Club of Rome who believe every young person, regardless of their economic, social, or cultural status, should have a voice in the decisions that affect their future. Through these global listening sessions, policymakers, corporate partners, and young people from around the world will hear the concerns, fears, and excitement of a diverse generation, enabling them to better serve a generation and, perhaps most importantly, letting them know they are not alone. The listening sessions will also give a better understanding of the concerns and excitement that young adults have about their future.
The listening sessions will be held in 4-6 sessions hosted each day in a variety of languages from November 1st to November 12th, 2021.

ELIGIBILITY

  • The sessions will be held in the following languages: English, Spanish, Hindi, Tamil, Portuguese, Urdu, Somali, Czech, French, Swahili, Italian, Russian, and Bengali. It is expected that any youth participating should have conversational ability in one language.
  • Since the Listening Sessions are being hosted virtually right now, participants should be able to connect using reliable internet connection and are in a safe, quiet place where they feel comfortable sharing their experiences.
  • The target audience is young people aged 18-30. If you or someone you know is outside of this age range, you are still more than welcome to participate.
  • If you are younger than 18 years old, please contact 50 Percent directly (mem77@psu.edu) before signing up.
