The World Nomads has launched an opportunity for students, emerging and non-professional writers and travel lovers around the globe with high proficiency in English to travel across Europe and chronicle the adventure on the road. The travel writing scholarship will be provided to three aspiring travel writers.

Prizes to 3 Scholarship recipients:

  1. A 2-day custom Travel Writing course in Berlin with mentor
  2. A 10-day bespoke road trip across Europe including transportation and accommodation
  3. Road trip airfare from and to Berlin and the country of residence
  4. Enrolment in the MatadorU Travel Writing course (with 3 months unlimited access to the course)
  5. Travel insurance for the duration of the trip
  6. Publication of feature travel articles (4-5) from the road trip on World Nomads, Go Euro, Hostelworld and Matador network
  7. Publication of daily blog of road trip (along with photos) on World Nomads travel journal.

ELIGIBILITY

  • This opportunity is open to students, emerging and non-professional writers and lovers of travel looking for a career change.
  • The scholarship is open to all nationalities, however, you must have an exceptionally high degree of proficiency in written English.
  • The opportunity is designed to give you a taste of what it’s like to be a travel writer on the road, so you must be comfortable travelling and working on your own.
  • Minimum age 18 by the date the scholarship application closes (May 15, 2014)
  • You need a current passport with at least six months left before expiry.
  • You must be available as per the dates set out. Please note these dates are not changeable in any way, you must be available for the entire assignment.
  • You should be an exceptional writer with a lust for adventure travel, a desire to experience new cultures and above all, a burning desire to become a professional travel writer!
