South Australia is the southern, central state of mainland Australia. South Australia also has a large agricultural industry and is a major wine producer. The National Wine Centre located in Adelaide is fitting, considering SA produces over 45 percent of the country’s wine grape crush.
The South Australian Government offer Catherine Helen Spence Memorial Scholarship for South Australian Students to study in Australia or Overseas. The scholarship is available for PhD, masters or honors degree Programmes in social sciences for the academic year 2017.

- Scholarship has a value of up to $25,000.
ELIGIBILITY
The following criteria must be met in order for applicants to be eligible for the scholarship:
- Are a woman between the age of 20 and 35 years of age
- Live in South Australia
- Have lived in South Australia for at least five years immediately prior to the awarding of the scholarship
- Will be able to commence the scholarship project by February 2018 – or earlierWill be able to carry out and complete the research project within 18 months of commencement – by August 2019
- Will be using the scholarship to investigate or study contemporary issues in the field of social sciences relevant to South Australian social conditions.
