Michigan State University International Studies and Programs is inviting applications from Sub-Saharan Africa graduate students for MasterCard Foundation Scholars program 2014. The main objective of the scholarship program is to ensure that young people are equipped with the skills and competencies needed to spur economic growth and social development in their respective countries of origin.
The scholarship is open to students who have already completed a bachelor’s degree at an African university and are residents or citizens of an African country. Academically qualified, economically disadvantaged, young people in Africa who will contribute to the transformation of the continent are highly encouraged to apply for MasterCard Foundation Scholars Program.
Application deadline for graduate scholarship is 3 February 2014
Eligibility Criteria –
- Applicants must be from Sub-Saharan Africa, admitted to Michigan State University.
- Applicants must have an interest in and capacity for give-back, evidenced by commitment and engagement on campus, in professional pursuits and/or community.
- Applicants must manifest ethical behavior and strong character and should have an ability to deal with change, uncertainty, and adversity, as well as interest in other countries and cultures, necessary to succeed as a student overseas and represent one’s home country in this role.
- Applicants must have significant financial need and/or from lowest income bracket in country of origin.
- Applicants must be committed to give back in ways that enhance the economic growth and social development of Africa.
- Applicants must have Strong commitment to a professional path in line with the area of study that can positively impact Africa; and must have an interest in and capacity for give-back, evidenced by commitment and engagement on campus, in professional pursuits and/or community.
