The University of Warwick calls for applications from suitably qualified candidates for the 2014/2015 Politics and International Studies, PAIS, Departmental Scholarship for home and international students.
Specifications
The awards will be allocated as follows:
- Seven full-time Home/EU scholarships. These will be awarded to candidates from the UK and European Union who will undertake a full-time PAIS MA or Diploma programme commencing in October 2014.
- Six full-time Overseas scholarships. These will be awarded to candidates from outside the EU who will undertake a full-time PAIS MA or Diploma programme commencing in October 2014.
- Two part-time scholarships. This will be awarded to a candidate who will undertake a part-time PAIS MA or Diploma programme commencing in October 2014 or to a current PAIS MA or Diploma student entering year 2 in 2014. This award is aimed in particular at mature British students; however, the competition is also open to EU students or Overseas students eligible for part-time study. Please note that pending satisfactory academic progress, the award will be renewed for the successful candidates’ second year of study.
Worth of Awards
- Nine awards of 50% of tuition fees each are available for students commencing MA/Diploma study in 2014-15. The award will automatically be deducted from the winners’ tuition fees.
Eligibility
- Open to applicants on all PAIS MA/Diploma programmes, including the Double Degrees (Warwick year only). Please submit your application to the degree programme before submitting your scholarship application.
- Candidates must apply to the university and have paid their application fee no later no later than 30 April 2014. Please submit your application to the MA programme before submitting your scholarship application.
- Candidates must apply for the scholarship no later than 30 April 2014.
- All supporting documentation for the university application, including references, must be received no later than 14 May 2014.
- Successful candidates must obtain an offer from the university before taking up the award.
- Candidates may apply concurrently to other funding sources; however, successful candidates who receive major tuition funding elsewhere (eg, the Warwick International Office scholarship) will be disqualified.
Entry Criteria
Each application will be judged on the following merits:
- Outstanding academic performance
- Outstanding case for support
- Interesting and relevant individual attributes (eg, background, relevant work experience, extracurricular activities, etc)
- Quality of the application statement–is it concise, well-articulated, engaging, etc
Please note that this is not a needs-based scholarship, so your financial situation will not be taken into account.
