YouthHubAfrica is hiring for the role of a field assistant in Bauchi state, Nigeria.
The Field Assistant in Bauchi state will coordinate all the advocacy activities related to the reforms around ENDSARS and the organisation’s programmes around Governance and Accountability. The officer will be able to work with the consortium, and stakeholders while also providing up-to-date information for the YouthHubAfrica office.
General functions.
The Field Assistant’s primary function is to oversee the implementation and monitor the issues around the #ENDSARS, its aftermath, possible solutions, and Governance and Accountability in Sokoto state, ensuring implementation schedules are met as per the detailed activity plan, and that adherence to systems for quality project implementation are strengthened. This will include helping to shape and direct the organisation’s work in Bauchi State as well as engaging with stakeholders to achieve set objectives.
Responsibilities.
Main duties and responsibilities will be:
- Program Planning
- Will report directly to the Program Officer Governance and Accountability while Working closely with the Executive Director, Program Manager, and other team members to understand program goals and to meet expectations
- Support YouthHubAfrica programs to supervise and manage all activities in Bauchi State and other adjoining Project sites.
- Support team in preparing proposals, and concept notes
- Take lead in preparing reports as assigned.
- Coordinating on-ground activities which includes training and capacity building, outreaches and media efforts.
- Contribute to information-sharing and data management systems.
- Compile monthly and quarterly reports, on time and with accurate data.
- Maintain flexibility to take on added responsibilities as and when needed.
- Stakeholders management
- Work with existing stakeholders, identify other key stakeholders in areas of thematic importance.
- Mobilise and organise advocacies at the community level.
- Identify and work with Influencers on Governance, politics and policies, Democracy and accountability and related policies as well as youth participation in governance and sustainable development.
- Coordination
- Actively participate in relevant working groups and contribute to interagency initiatives.
- Contribute to the positive image and overall credibility of the organization, notably through the application of the organization’s Code of Conduct.
- Take notes of regular team’s meetings for the program office use. Work with other Program Assistants to coordinate work activities, meet deadlines, and provide support where needed.
- Financial Management
- Work with Finance and Logistics to plan and procure supplies within program budgets.
- Ensure compliance with donor regulations.
ELIGIBILITY
- Degree in Political Science, Social Work, International Relations, Public Administration, or other relevant fields of study. Students and Corp Members are encouraged to apply.
- Two years of experience in program design and implementation, in a similar role, will be an added advantage.
- Proficiency in Hausa and English languages is a must.
- Must be a resident in Bauchi, Bauchi State.
- Proven knowledge and experience in developing and implementing community mobilization projects and stakeholder engagement.
- Good knowledge and understanding of the environment and people, including culture.
- Ability to exercise sound judgment, remain flexible to a changing environment, and make decisions independently.
- High level of computer literacy.
- Demonstrate the willingness to work in a team.
