Samanwita Yubatirtha is the Youth Wing of Asom Satra Mahasabha- the apex organization of all the Satras of Assam. It is a registered socio-cultural association for the Satras of Assam, which aims at preserving and propagating the religious, socio-cultural and humanistic teachings of Mahapurusha Srimanta Sankaradeva.

The term ‘extremism’ is mostly used in a political or religious sense, to refer to an ideology that is considered to be far outside the mainstream attitudes of society. RELIGIOUS EXTREMISM is a radicalized and intolerant viewpoint that typically sanctions the use of violence to promote a defined, religiously motivated political agenda. Religious extremist groups share several interlocking characteristics. The most important a sense of persecution, a sense of injustice suffered at a hand of a large force or ideological entity. Seeing a group of militant youths arrested by the security forces makes us ponder as to what positive contribution they could have made, had they not been led astray. As conscientious citizens, we need to act now to stop the rot before it gets out of control. We need to study why and how religious extremism enters into the society’s mainstream, how it thrives and what measures we could take to prevent our youth from becoming extremists.

At the time when Religious Fundamentalism is a peak problem around the globe, extreme fundamentalism in today’s world is responsible for much misery, claiming many lives of innocent people. Fundamentalism has shut down the doorway to the acceptance of modern ideas and scientific principles and exchange of thoughts amongst the societies around the world. It is the alarming time for the youths to engage themselves in reforms and start a peace building process.
