SRHR Calls for Abstract

Established in 1990, the Society for AIDS in Africa (SAA) promotes policies and research to support government response to end the HIV epidemic on the continent. Following the 1^st Regional Symposium in Khartoum in 2007, SAA will organize its 2^nd Symposium in collaboration with the Government of the Republic of Zambia, the Zambia National HIV/AIDS/STI/TB Council and the Society for Women & AIDS in Africa (SWAA). The symposium will focus on Adolescent SRHR and HIV. About 500 delegate comprising adolescents, young people, program managers, policy makers, activists and advocates from the continent and beyond will be welcome to Lusaka between the 7^th -10^th of December 2014.

The ASRHR Symposium Organizing Committee therefore invites submission of abstracts on contemporary programme and research innovation interventions. The Committee welcomes the submissions of abstracts for Oral or Poster presentation during this symposium, with the rationale of making new or original contributions to the body of knowledge in ASRHR and HIV. To be considered, abstracts must:

The conference welcomes abstract submission in the following tracks:

• Track A: Maternal Mortality and teenage pregnancy/adolescent motherhood
• Track B: HIV prevention, treatment, care and support for Adolescents
• Track C: Sexuality Education
• Track D: Sexual, gender based violence and child marriage
• Track E: Sexual Reproductive Health Rights for Marginalised Adolescents
• Track F: Public Private Partnerships for Adolescent SRHR/HIV
• Track G: Role of faith-based and/or community stakeholders in ASRHR
• Track H: Rights, responsibilities and participation of adolescents in ASRHR/HIV issues

The Symposium Organizing Committee is particularly interested in abstracts meeting the needs of adolescents and young people who are traditionally under-represented and fall under the marginalized communities segment. The Committee will pay particular attention to SRHR/HIV interventions implemented for adolescents at community level, working with community based organizations and groups.

All abstracts should be no longer than 350 words in Times New Roman 12 font size. Two types of abstracts will be accepted:

1. Research: Suited for research conducted in all disciplines. The abstract format should include background, methods, results and conclusion;
2. Program: Suited for lessons learned through program, project or policy implementation or management. The abstract format should include an introduction/background of the program area, Program Description and Lessons Learnt or Best Practice.

ELIGIBILITY FOR ABSTRACT

1. a) Advance understanding of interventions targeting young people and communities;
2. b) Offer new innovations in ASRHR and HIV methodologies particularly for programs or projects working at both community and health facility level;
3. c) Inform the development or effectiveness of HIV prevention, treatment, care, support and impact mitigation strategies as well as organizational interventions or arrangements for adolescents;
4. d) Inform debate in health policy or public health in relation to the ASRHR and HIV response; and

2 e) Advance knowledge in the improvement of science within the ASRHR and HIV prevention, care and treatment and support.
