The Low Tech 4 democracy virtual course is an initiative under the Tech for Development Project funded by ActionAid Denmark. The project aims to explore and establish the usefulness and adaptability of low-tech solutions in marginalised communities across Nigeria to drive social movements and facilitate capacity-building, youth activism, and local governance in three locations in FCT (Federal Capital Territory), Ebonyi and Borno states.

This course will host training for 250 successful applicants using the WhatsApp virtual platform, facilitated by experts and experienced professionals.

WORTH

  • The platform will provide an avenue for virtual interaction amongst learners and facilitators based on the weekly topics in the course curriculum.
  • This course will cover modules on youth participation in governance, youth mobilising for change, and community development through accountability and transparency.
  • The beneficiaries will be awarded certificates at the end of the course.
  • Data stipend and an option for a mini-grant to carry out activities in their local communities will be made available to beneficiaries who have successfully completed the course.
ELIGIBILITY
  • Participants must be from or based in any of the three project locations; FCT, Ebonyi, and Borno.
  • Applicants between the ages of 18 to 35 years
  • Applicants must be willing to carry out a step-down training of what has been learnt in their communities.
  • Citizens from grassroots and marginalised communities are encouraged to apply.
