POSITION: SRHR Programme Officer
LOCATION: Abuja
ABOUT THE JOB:
YouthHubAfrica is one of Africa’s leading NGOs, providing platforms for young people to contribute to sustainable development and collaborate in creative and innovative ways. In the last year of its 5 years strategic plan, the organisation is seeking to enlist the contribution of young, innovative and motivated leaders to support the existing team in achieving its objectives in the area of ensuring Youth participation and accountability in governance.
GENERAL FUNCTIONS
The SRHR Programme Officer’s primary function is to oversee the implementation of activities within SRHR thematic areas. This will include helping to shape and direct the organisation’s work in championing youth participation in decision making processes as well as leading advocacies on a number of campaigns and initiatives at national and international levels.
The ideal candidate will provide leadership across the full range of projects in planning, implementation and documentation. He/She will Identify and resolve diverse issues as they arise, which often requires interpretation of existing procedures and processes and independently determining the appropriate application.
Main duties and responsibilities will be:
- Program Planning
- Work closely with the Executive Director, Program Manager, and other team members to understand program goals and to meet expectations
- Analyze trends of SRHR and recommend program strategies to meet needs
- Take lead in preparing proposals, concept notes and reports as assigned.
- Work with the Program manager to train SRHR staff to become leaders of SRHR promotion, GBV prevention and response
- Contribute to information-sharing and data management systems
- Compile monthly and quarterly reports, on time and with accurate data
- Maintain flexibility to take on added responsibility as and when needed
- Coordination
- Coordinate/Manage existing community platforms created to promote SRHR and protect women and girls against GBV and Harmful practices
- Actively participate in relevant working groups and contribute to interagency initiatives
- Contribute to the positive image and overall credibility of the organization, notably through the application of the organization’s Code of Conduct
- Takes notes of regular team’s meetings for the program office use. Work with other Program Assistants to coordinate work activities, meet deadlines, and provide support where needed
- Human Resources/Knowledge Management
- Develop support strategies for staff and introduce principles of self-care
- Develop and maintain an efficient filing system for the team, including assistance in processing calls for proposals as required and Maintain a tracking system of responses to proposals.
- Financial Management
- Develop work plans in line with annual approved plans and projects
- Work with Finance and Logistics to plan and procure supplies within program budgets
- Ensure compliance with donor regulations, and reporting timelines
QUALIFICATIONS
- Degree in Social Work, Public Health, International Development or other relevant field of study (a Master degree will be an added advantage)
- Three years’ experience in program design and implementation, in a similar role, will be an added advantage
- Proven knowledge and experience in developing and implementing community mobilization projects
- Ability to exercise sound judgment, to remain flexible to a changing environment, and to make decisions independently
- High level of computer literacy
- Demonstrate willingness to work in a team.
