Online Youth Consultation on Constitutionalism & Rule of Law in Nigeria #YouthConsultation

Ahead of the 2^nd Annual African Union High Level Dialogue on Constitutionalism and Rule of Law in Africa, YIAGA and its partners are facilitating a country-level youth consultation on Constitutionalism & Rule of Law in Africa.

Specific objectives of the online consultation include;

1.     Assess the state of constitutionalism and rule of law in Nigeria and Africa;
 
2.     Examine the socio-political dynamics of constitution making and reforms processes in Nigeria and Africa;
 
3.     Facilitate the inclusion of youth voices and perspectives into discussions on the state of constitutionalism and rule of law in Africa;
 
4.     Encourage the promotion of African Charter on Democracy, Elections and Governance and other related AU instruments on popular participation, human rights and governance and;
 
5.     Develop a youth led and oriented agenda for promoting constitutionalism and the rule of law in Africa.

The online discussions will to culminate into a physical National Consultation to be hosted in Abuja, Nigeria in November 2013. The physical meeting will serve as the harmonization meeting for the country level input to the continent-wide youth consultation. Participants of the physical meeting will be selected from the pool of contributors to the online consultation. The best male and female contributors will received prizes from the consultation facilitators.  The outcome of the consultations will be presented at the continental youth consultation and the AU High Level Trends Dialogue scheduled for end of November in Dakar, Senegal.
