INAUGURAL ROAD SAFETY FOOTBALL TOURNAMENT 2013

We would like to invite you to the Inaugural version of our Road Safety Football Tournament 2013. We at Kwapda’as Road Safety Demand (KRSD) Trust Fund hereby present a 4 Team Knock-Out Tournament that is targeted at sustaining the levels of awareness on Good Road Ethics, Safety and Crash Avoidance in the FCT.

 

Venue: National Stadium, Abuja

Date: 7th of September, 2013.

Time: 9am – 12noon

 

OBJECTIVES OF THE TOURNAMENT

  1. To sustain the campaign by Kwapda’as Road Safety Demand (KRSD) Trust Fund for safer roads in the Abuja City and Nigeria as a whole.
  2. To use sport (football) as a viable means of generating excitement and support from relevant government authorities, corporate organizations and the general public for the aims & objectives of the KRSD Trust Fund.
  3. To promote personal fitness and football excellence amongst the members of partner organizations (FRSC, VIO, Nigerian Red Cross, etc.) through an incentive based tournament involving the top individuals from these organizations.
  4. To ensure that the Kwapda’as Road Safety Demand (KRSD) Trust Fund objective of promoting Good Road Ethics, Safer Roads, Automobile Safety and Crash Avoidance for drivers is broadcast to an larger audience by sponsoring a local football benefit: at least one football tournament a financial year leading to local football development.

 

TOURNAMENT FORMAT

4 Teams Knock-Out Tournament:

Four (4) teams from Abuja City will compete in a straight knock-out tournament, culminating in a cup final at the National Stadium Abuja on Saturday the 7th of September 2013.

A draw will be made to randomly select teams for the semifinals.

Both semifinal games will be played for a period of 40 minutes with a 10 minute halftime break.

The final match will be played for 60 minutes with a 15 minute halftime break.

There will be no extra time and any game resulting in a tie, will be decided by penalties.

The grand prize, known as “Kwappy’s Cup” will be awarded to the winning team by the Guest of Honour at the tournament grounds on the same day.

Federal Road Safety Corps football club

Nigerian Red Cross Society football club

Oceans’ Eleven football club

Kwapda’as Road Safety Demand football club

 

 

It is a known fact that sport and football in particular has a unifying power on a great majority if not all Nigerians. It is my firm belief that we at KRSD can use this as a viable medium for sustaining the much needed awareness about safety on our Nigerian roads.
