YHA Opportunities

About

We are a group of 5 African women based in different parts of the world who are providing a platform for young African women to contribute to the creative landscape. In March 2021, we jointly compiled and edited an anthology – a collection of stories and essays from 15 young women across 7 African countries chronicling their unique, lived experiences on gender equality and gender issues.

Building on the back of that successful project, we hope to expand opportunities to younger demography (young girls aged 13 to 18, again across the continent and the diaspora) to contribute their thoughts, ideas, and lived experiences as well.

WORTH

  • The best essay will be awarded a monetary prize of 100 dollars and published as part of a second anthology series titled “In Her Words: Perspectives of African Girls on Gender Equality.”
