Are you a Nigerian Student who has a flair for writing, storytelling, communication, or journalism?

YouthhubAfrica, in collaboration with World’s Best News (WBN), is excited to announce the launch of our call for applications for a student exchange programme. The 3 Selected Nigerian students will have the opportunity to participate in an all-expense paid five-day intensive capacity-building program in Copenhagen, Denmark, while their counterparts visit Ghana in Africa.

 While in Denmark, participants will engage in workshops, mentorship sessions, and field reporting opportunities, gaining hands-on experience and practical skills in journalism. They will learn about local conditions, global goals, cultural diversity, and networking with professionals in the field.

 The initiative which is under The “Africa is not a Country” Project, offers a unique opportunity for university students who have a flair for writing and communications, or who major in mass communications, or journalists or university students interested in journalism to participate in a study and report student exchange program. The programme also seeks to promote intercultural knowledge and experience exchange between students from Europe and Africa.

WORTH

  • Hands-on experience and practical skills gained through workshops, mentorship, and field reporting opportunities.
  • Networking opportunities with professionals in the field of journalism, both from Africa and Europe, potentially leading to future collaborations or career opportunities.
  • Fully funded trip, covering return ticket from Abuja, visa fees, and meals.
  • Additional resources and support provided during and after the program, such as access to journalism tools, ongoing mentorship, and opportunities for publication.
  • Alignment with broader goals of promoting diversity, intercultural understanding, and global citizenship among young journalists.

ELIGIBILITY

  • Applicants must be passionate about journalism and storytelling, with at least two years of experience in writing and publishing media pieces spotlighting stories within a university setting.
  • Applicants must be a student of a Nigerian University.
  • Students must demonstrate a commitment to reporting stories of activism, history, and occurrences in Nigeria University or Africa, with the capacity to develop compelling narratives from simple experiences.
  • Prospective applicants should note that if chosen, they will be required to attend an intensive five-day exchange program in Denmark.
  • Priority will be given to female students.
  • Applicants must be between the ages of 18 and 29 at the time of application.
