Apply to pitch your startup for an opportunity to win up to $15,000 in funding. Pitched is now accepting preliminary applications for its 2018 pitch competition for startups in Nigeria. This program is aimed at connecting entrepreneurs in Nigeria to funding, investors, mentorship, and a diverse range of support networks.
Pitched is an early stage nonprofit organized by a group of individuals from the United States. Our mission is to invest in startups and grow small businesses in Africa.
WORTH
Seven finalists would get to pitch their business to a group of judges. The top three finalist would be given:
- First place: $13,000
- Second place: $8,000
- Third place: $5,500
- All six finalists would receive $2,000 in funding for making it to the finals.
Social Media Contest:
- This is the online video contest for startups. Each startup would post
their pitch online and the public gets to vote. The start up with the most votes would win $1,000 in funding.
Small Business Contest:
- This is for applicants with small business proposals. They will be entered in a separate competition with the winner taking home $1,500 in funding.
- Participants also get a chance to develop their startup in a six-week accelerator program which provides on-hands support, training, mentorship, access to networks, co-working space, and business coaching.
ELIGIBILITY
This application is in four stages:
- The first step is the general preliminary applications
- The second stage would require selected participants to send in a business
- proposal/executive summary.
- The third stage requires shortlisted participants to send in a five minute video telling us
- about their company and their unique approach to the issue they are solving.
- The top seven participants would be invited to pitch their business to a group of
- corporate investors in Lagos, Nigeria by the summer of 2018
