Youths changing Nigeria—one business idea at a time
Are you a school leaver or a university graduate? Do you have what it takes to effectively contribute and supportthe economic national growth? Do you have theability to fine tune a business plan,deliver on it, earn an income, make profit and generate new jobs for other unemployed persons? If your answers are YES, then UNIDO & FMITI believes in you, and are we are happy to support YOUR business idea.
Eligibility
This competition is open to:
- Any secondary school leaver or university graduate who hopes to start a new business with the aim of adding value
to the development of overall businesses in private and public sectors - “School leaver” refers to an individual that has a minimum of WASSCE or a Technical College certificate
- Participants must be between the ages of 18 and 35 at the time of entry into the competition
- Finalists must be available to present their proposal before a panel of judges at slated venues in Lagos or Abuja
during the last week of June tosecondweek in July (specific dates will be communicated to eligible applicants).
Rules
- The business plan must be commercially and financially viable and feasible
- Business plans must include sustainable business ethics which shows how the operations of the intended venture will
not have negative impact on the community - Individuals or groups may submit a business proposal, but only one proposal entry is allowed
- If the business proposal is submitted by a team, the Grand Prize will be awarded to the team as a whole
Confidentiality
The UNIDO – FMITI Business Plan Competition honours the confidentiality of all participants’ business concepts and plans. Business concepts, overviews and plans will not be copied for any purposes other than this competition. All Intellectual Property (IP) remains the ownership of the presenting individual. Efforts will be put in place to ensure that the judges for this competition also recognize the sensitivity of the materials being presented.

- Write a business plan (Suggested guideline attached).

Prizes
Three selected entrepreneurs will be awarded the following Grand Prize:
- Cash prizes to kick-start the new business.
- Personal mentoring by assigned mentors to help execute the idea.
- Tools, information and advisory on entrepreneurship, leadership, and social change.
- Free promotion of the business through our media avenues.
- Business name registration at a token.
Submission Guidelines
- Submission is a simple email sent to proposal@careerentrepreneurshipnigeria.com which should include
the name of submitter and name of the business, with the business plan includedas an attachment in PDF format. - Screening is by business plan submission (at the first stage) and oral presentation (at the second stage).

Important Dates
- Registration and Proposal Submission Opens: 5th June, 2013
- Submission of Written Proposals Closes: 21st June, 2013
- Judges go through business plans and select winners: 21st – 25th, 2013
- Top ten finalists announced at Abuja Event : June 27th, 2013
- Top ten finalists announced at Lagos Event: July 4th, 2013
- Oral Presentation/ Selection: July 11th- 16th, 2013
