The International Day of Sport for Development and Peace event aims at creating awareness on the use of Sport for promoting positive youth development outcomes and peace. It is a platform for advocating and educating stakeholders in youth development practice on the benefit of youth sport for development and peace. As a way of advocating for the use of Sport for Development and Peace, the Commonwealth Youth Sport for Development and Peace Working Group (CYSDP) of the Commonwealth Secretariat is organizing a Regional Event to commemorate the International Day of Sport for Development and Peace. The event shall also feature the Official launching of CYSDP Volunteering Program and CYSDP Official Website. Established in May 2013, CYSDP is composed of 10 young people working in the field of sport for development and peace. The group’s vision is “to be the leading voice for youth in the Commonwealth towards promoting best practices towards sport for development and peace in their respective societies – by targeting young people and policy makers.”
Eligibility.
Students, youths, youth leaders, Sport entrepreneurs, representative of Non-governmental organizations and other actors in humanitarian and development practice. Stakeholders involved in youth development practice to include Officials of Ministry of Youth and Ministry of Education, young development practitioners, youth workers, School Teachers, Sport Teachers, Coach, student leaders, Organisations working with or for youths, Sport Administrators etc.
