Youth Engagement, youth visibility and the meaningful participation of young people are integral parts of the International AIDS Conference. Our commitment is to ensure we champion the power and place of young people as key speakers throughout all tracks of the program for the 20th International AIDS Conference (AIDS2014) that will take place in Melbourne, Australia from 20th – 25th July 2014.
This is a unique opportunity to also draw attention to the post 2015 development agenda as we move closer to the end of Millennium Development Goals. Our vision is to ensure we bring on board powerful, articulate and engaged young speakers from across the global who have expertise to share in all areas relating to HIV and AIDS as well as young speakers to lead and champion specific youth issues.
Over the coming months as opportunities arise to nominate speakers for a variety of session types including plenary sessions, symposiums, workshops, special high level events and pre-conferences we want to ensure we have a diverse and representative list of recommended young speakers we can draw nominations from.
We are seeking your help to suggest young people aged 16-29years of age who you think would make an outstanding contribution to a specific topic or area related to HIV and AIDS. Below is a list of areas of expertise, interests and background topics that may help you to identify young people from your networks who can contribute to these specific areas. You are also welcome to recommend yourself if you feel you are an ideal candidate for a particular area. Speakers should ideally have a proven ability to speak, write and understand English.
Please note that submitting details of any individual on this youth speaker suggestion form does not guarantee a speaker will be selected to participate, however we will review and consider all suggestions received for youth speakers and will be in contact with those nominated as the need arises.
Please kindly fill in the details of your recommended youth speaker below for suggestion and send via email to Mohammed Barry mohammed.barry@questu.ca and Alischa Ross alischa@yeah.org.au by Monday, 7th October 2013 at the latest.
