In celebration of International Youth Day (IYD) 2015, the African Union Commission will host a special gathering of the Youth Corner, as well as a flurry of media activities aimed at commemorating the 2015 International Youth Day under the theme “Youth Civic Engagement.”
The IYD will be celebrated with a two day series of activities at the African Union on the *11th & 12th August 2015.*
- Day 1 – 11th August 2015 at 12:00 pm (EAT) We will host an AU Youth Corner discussion. The Commissioners of HRST & Political Affairs will attend the event.
- Day 2 – 12th August 2015 at 03:00 pm (EAT) – A special youth town hall meeting will be convened with the Chairperson of the AUC
Embassies in Addis Ababa and other International Organizations are invited. Young people will be encouraged to ask questions and make suggestions about mainstreaming youth participation in the realization of Agenda 2063 and other instruments of the AUC. A focus will be placed on knowledge sharing and the
popularizing of Agenda 2063 and the African Shared Values Instruments. The Human resources, Sciences and Technology Commissioner and the AUC Chairperson will be tweeting live, joined by youth from all over the continent.
*Therefore African Youth, this is an opportunity to celebrate the contribution of youth to the development of our continent. To be a part of the conversation, please record a video of 30 seconds or less and upload it on Facebook or Twitter or email it directly to youth@africa-union.org <youth@africa-union.org> and tell us what you are doing in your country, in your community or on the continent to be an active citizen or simply send through any of your questions related to this year’s theme: Youth Civic Engagement.
