The Global Africa Translation Fellowship 2025, offered by The Africa Institute, provides a unique opportunity for scholars and translators across the Global South to translate significant works from the African continent and its diaspora into English or Arabic. Other language translations may also be considered. This non-residential fellowship offers grants ranging from $1,000 to $5,000, supporting first-time translations, re-translations of classic texts, poetry, prose, and critical theory collections.

ELIGIBILTY

•⁠ ⁠Applicants must have a background in translation, literature, or African and African Diaspora studies
•⁠ ⁠The project can be either a work-in-progress or a new translation project that fits within the timeframe of the grant
•⁠ ⁠Translators must demonstrate the capacity to complete the project
