The YouthHubAfrica’s Child Rights Bill Advocacy Program Media Fellowship is a one-year fellowship designed to equip journalists with the skills and knowledge needed to understand the Child Rights Act advocacy so as to provide for ambitious coverage of critical issues related to the Child Right Act (CRA) to ensure its adoption in Sokoto State.

The aim of this Media Fellowship is to support ambitious coverage of critical issues related to ensuring the passage of the Child Rights Bill, especially as it concerns education and rights of children in Sokoto State and also pitch the Nigerian child as a major stakeholder in the country. The fellowship will avail journalists an opportunity to produce investigative stories on the situation of children in the state. The fellowship also serves as an opportunity designed to advance journalists’ knowledge on the Child Right Law in Sokoto State and develop stories that trigger national engagement on access to 12 years of quality education for the girl child.

The Child Rights Act adopted in 2003 still represents one of the very few legal frameworks from which all the over 10 million out-of-school children in Nigeria can get access to quality universal basic education.
