The Child Rights Media Advocacy Fellowship, an initiative of YouthHub Africa, is pleased to launch its first call for applications from journalists in Nigeria. Applications will be received from 9th April, 2018 through 19th April, 2018 and will be reviewed on a rolling basis. The aim of the Child Rights Media Advocacy Fellowship is to support ambitious coverage of critical issues related to ensuring the passage of the Child Rights Bill, especially as it concerns education, in the remaining states without such laws and also pitch the Nigerian child as a major stakeholder in the country. The fellowship will avail journalists an opportunity to produce investigative stories on the situation of children in the various states of focus. The fellowship also serves as an opportunity designed to advance journalists’ knowledge on the Child Right Laws in Nigeria and develop stories that trigger national engagement on access to 12 years of quality education for the girl child.
About the Fellowship
WORTH
- The Child Right Advocacy Media Fellowship will provide editorial support to chosen
- In addition to this, the fellows will be supported with $1,000 for their out-of- pocket expenses to produce stories that will deepen thoughts, cause conversations and insight commentaries on the state of the Nigerian child.
Text, charts, video and audios are accepted; but submissions that seem to explore multi-media format will excite us. 10 fellows will be selected for this fellowship. Themedia fellowship is expected to run for a period of one year. The media fellowship is the first of four that YouthHub Africa will be implementing. Our ideal applicants are those with passion and experience for reporting. The editorial advice offered in the course of the fellowship is to guide and not
necessarily dictate to journalists what to do. We are currently exploring partnership with established media platforms in Nigeria and may be able to assist with placement of some the produced stories. YouthHub Africa, will later also be serialising the produced work on its platform after initial production by the
journalist’s media outfit.
