EFN is offering the best and brightest future conservation leaders from Botswana, Namibia, and Zambia, the opportunity to pursue graduate-level study anywhere in the world with the goal of advancing conservation in their home country to ensure the long term success of conservation efforts. The fellowship is open to PhD and master’s students starting their studies latest January 2015.

Program Objective The primary objective of this fellowship program is to build and strengthen the capacity of individuals working in Botswana, Namibia, and Zambia by supporting graduate level academic studies and research in the following fields:

  • community based natural resource management,
  • environmental policy,
  • wildlife management,
  • protected area and land management,
  • agroforestry
  • forest and watershed management
  • natural resource economics

Worth of Award

  • Applicants may apply for up to two years of funding and request up to $30,000 per year.

Eligibility

An applicant:

  • Must be a citizen and legal permanent resident of the Botswana, Namibia, and Zambia
  • must have at least two years of work experience in conservation (paid or unpaid) and a demonstrated commitment to working in the region
  •  research should be focused on one of the topics listed above.
  •  must be enrolled in, admitted to, or have applied to a master’s or PhD program
  • must plan to begin your studies no later than January 2015.
  • must commit to working at least two years in your home country after the completion of your degree.
  • Current WWF employees, consultants, employees seconded to WWF , and EFN grantees/alumni should contact EFN before applying to determine eligibility.
