On behalf of the Children and Youth Major Group, in cooperation with the Swedish National Youth Council and constituent youth organisations in Kenya, we are pleased to invite young people and youth organisations worldwide to join an unprecedented mobilisation of young people in environmental governance as we head towards the Stockholm+50 International Meeting.

“Stockholm+50: a healthy planet for the prosperity of all – our responsibility, our opportunity”,is an international  meeting hosted by the United Nations system that will take place on the 2nd and 3rd of June 2022, during the week of World Environment Day, to commemorate the 50 years since the United Nations Conference on the Human Environment and its outcome documents, accelerate global action and delivery for sustainable development, including a sustainable recovery from COVID19 pandemic. 

The United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) serves as the coordinating UN agency for this process. This provides an opportunity for the international community to strengthen cooperation and show leadership in the transformation towards a more sustainable society.

WORTH

  • International air travel to and from Stockholm for the dates of the event in Stockholm 
  • Costs pertaining to arranging Schengen visa, where applicable (such as visa fee, travel to the Embassy, etc.) 
  • Travel health insurance 
  • Any necessary COVID-19 tests (including PCR testing required for travel)  
  • Cost of food (either pre-paid meals or fixed food allowance based on average meal cost in Stockholm)
  • Accommodation for up to approximately 5 nights (check-in on the 30th May, and check-out on the 4th June) based conference duration and other commitments related to the conference 
  • No further DSA or salary or any other support will be provided apart from the items listed above. 

ELIGIBILITY

  • The applicant must be under the age of 35 at the time of application
  • If selected,

    • Applicant above the age of 18, must be available to travel, stay and fully attend the program from 29th of May until 5th of June  2022 (including travel dates)
    • Applicant below the age of 18, one chaperone of the applicant must be  available to travel, stay and fully attend the program from 29th of May until 5th of June  2022 (including travel dates)
  • Be fully vaccinated through WHO-approved vaccines until 10th May 2022, as per the current requirements for access to the UN conference. This means:
  • both doses of vaccines administered before 10th May 2022 for Pfizer / Moderna / Sinopharm / Sinovac / AstraZeneca / Covishield / Novavax / Covaxin
  • OR one dose of vaccine administered before 10th May 2022 for Janssen (Johnson & Johnson)
