The increasing number of unemployed people in Nigeria is alarming and shows no sign of abating in the nearest future. According to the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS), 4 million Nigerians have lost their jobs since 2015 while the Federal Government continues to beg employers of Labour not to downsize. The severe drop in crude oil prices, decline in government revenue, devaluation of the naira and surging inflation rates are all pointers to the fact that the prevailing economic situation in Nigeria will not end with the push of any button by the National or Sub National Governments in Nigeria. The Youth Alternative Career Development Program- YACDEP has been designed as a First Step response to the endemic youth unemployment in Nigeria with the objective of exposing and assisting unemployed Nigerian Youths access the numerous opportunities that have been largely ignored in the alternative.
