The West Africa Network for Peacebuilding (WANEP) is one of the leading peacebuilding organizations in Africa. The mandate of WANEP is to build the capacity of peacebuilding, development and human rights practitioners in Africa and worldwide on peace and security issues to promote and protect human security through context specific tools and indigenous techniques.  To fulfil this mandate, WANEP in partnership with the Kofi Annan International Peacekeeping Training Centre (KAIPTC), holds each year a four-week course on peacebuilding in Accra, Ghana.

WAPI was established to provide specialized, intensive, and culturally sensitive training in conflict transformation and peacebuilding to individuals, Civil Society Organizations (CSOs), the Business Community, Policy-makers, Government institutions and other relevant actors from West Africa and worldwide.  For the past years, WAPI has provided the space and platform for the actualization of WANEP’s vision for the prevention and resolution of conflicts in Africa. Since 2002 to date WAPI has trained over 450 practitioners in Peacebuilding Paradigms; Natural Resource Governance and Conflict Management; Human Security and Development; Dialogue and Mediation; Youth and Peace Education; Gender and Peacebuilding, Early warning and Early response among others.
