The United States Institute of Peace (USIP) is launching a project in which Sudanese youth leaders come to Washington D.C. to be in residence at USIP for three to four months. The project is designed to contribute to young leaders’ development by giving them opportunities to gain knowledge, skills, and confidence that they can use for years to come.
Candidate Eligibility
In order to be eligible to participate in the first iteration of this project, which will focus on Sudan, candidates must:
- Be living in Sudan at the time of application
- Be 40 years of age or younger at the time of application
- Be fluent in English
- Have excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Have demonstrated leadership skills
- Possess a willingness to participate and learn within and beyond the walls of USIP
- By the stipulations of the J1 visa, candidates must also be able to secure health insurance by the time they arrive in the United States
