For 50 years, Amnesty International has been campaigning for human rights, wherever justice, freedom and truth are denied. They have reshaped policies, challenged governments and taken corporations to task, changing thousands of lives for the better.
Joining them at their new regional office in Johannesburg, you’ll have the opportunity to make a difference both to activism in Amnesty International and to young people across Africa. In particular, you’ll inspire and empower a new generation of activists and encourage their participation in human rights campaigns. Your influence will be huge: you’ll run workshops to promote learning and grow campaigning skills, advise our national teams and share advanced mobilisation techniques with the global human rights movement.
You’re an experienced campaigner who understands how to make an impact. With a background in activism and membership organisations, you’ll know what it takes to mobilise people and reach audiences from different cultures and geographies. The particular focus on youth work means you’ll need to know exactly how to foster a vibrant youth constituency. Beyond that, you’ll also be confident about planning and managing multiple projects. Fluent in both French and English, you’ll show fine judgement when it comes to delivering training and communicating in a multicultural setting.
