Deutsche Welle (DW) invites individuals in journalism to take part in the newly designed traineeship. Every year, over 500 applications from all over the world are received from highly qualified candidates who speak a number of languages. They are prepared to go through a rigorous application process in order to become one of the 12 aspiring journalists chosen for the journalism traineeship.
The application process has four stages and involves DW directors, chief editors and top DW journalists. DW seeks young open-minded candidates who have initial journalistic experience and are wanting to help shape DW as it involves.
WORTH
- During the first six months of the traineeship you earn a pre-tax monthly salary of 1.590 Euros. That increases to 1.790 Euros for the following six months, and to 1.855 Euros for the final six months.
- DW provides the necessary documentation required to obtain a temporary work permit for Germany.
ELIGIBILITY
- Candidate should have completed a university or college degree prior to the traineeship
- Have experience in field, but it is not mandatory
- Be either of the following: Native speaker of English who has acquired basic working knowledge of German, Native speaker of Germany who is fluent in English, Native speaker of another language that is part of DW’s language services, but also need a good working knowledge of English and German.
