The Programs Assistant on Education will provide support to the Programs Department on the Education and Girl-Child Literacy thematic focus and across the full range of projects in both planning and implementation. A successful candidate will identify and resolve diverse issues as they arise, which often requires interpretation of existing procedures and processes and independently determining the appropriate application. This will include working on projects in line with the guidelines and regulations of donors, outsourcing for donors through proposal writings, document proposals and reports.

RESPONSIBILITY

  • Reports to the Programs Officer on Education and the Programs Manager
  • Writes grant-winning proposals
  • Assist in direct management and coordination of YHA project activities in line with projects implementation plan on Education and Girl-Child Literacy
  • Write reports of completed projects
  • Develop and monitor projects tasks and activities with project goals in line with approved work plans and standards for high quality
  • Ensure compliance with donor requirements in the implementation of projects
  • Undertake other activities as assigned by the Program Manager and the Executive Director

ELIGIBILITY

  • A degree in education, social sciences or related field from any reputable school (a Master degree will be an added advantage)
  • High level of computer literacy
  • Demonstrate willingness to work in a team
  • Demonstrate initiative and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to prioritize within a multi-tasking environment
  • Prior experience in an NGO is an added advantage
  • Ability and willingness to travel within the country and across the region on a regular basis.
  • High degree of independence, creativity and commitment
  • Strong analytic and communication skills, ability to write clearly and succinctly under time pressure and to make well organized verbal presentations
  • Ability to work under high pressure of work
  • Have a passion for education and girl-child development
