The use of social media has increased greatly in recent times. Particularly during the lockdown brought about by the COVID-19 pandemic, the use of social media has become a common place. Social media has provided a platform for people, both young and old to connect with one another all across the globe.
Social media has particularly been instrumental in advocacy and reporting, with many advocates and media personnel taking to social media to promote their stories. However, despite the many advantages of the use of social media, there is also a downside to consider, and that is the spread of Fake news.
How has social media and the spread of fake news affected Gender-Based Violence Reporting in Nigeria, and what can we do to curb the spread of Fake news?
