How can you tell if a product is fake or genuine? In many African countries, that’s a tough question to answer. Enter mobile phones and new technologies that are springing up around its use and it might be easier to tell a genuine product from a fake quite easily.
Msurvey, a new tech entrant provides an easy and accessible way to validate and register products. It can be used to help consumers identify genuine products and let manufacturers identify where and when their products are purchased.
Its validation service is similar to the technology used by Greenlife Pharmaceuticals Ltd makers of Lonart DS an anti-malaria drug. The company asks you to send the product number of the Lonart drug to a short-code number and it confirms immediately if the Lonart drug you’ve purchased is genuine. Fantastic, isn’t it?
Beyond the validation service however, Msurvey also promises to let manufacturers identify where and when their products are purchased. Msurvey which is backed by the Massachusetts Institute of Technology has offices in New York, Barbados and Nairobi.
Will this technology hit it big on the African Continent? time will tell. However, it has chosen Africa’s fastest growing tech-hub – Nairobi – to launch its Africa operations.
