Applications are invited from qualified Commonwealth Citizens in the CYP Africa Region to apply for internship positions at the Africa Centre starting September 2012. Internships will be for a minimum period of 6 months and renewable to a maximum of 12 months. The internship positions will be based at the CYP Africa Centre in Lusaka Zambia for the duration.
Objectives and Responsibilities:
CYP internships are designed to bridge a gap between formal education and the world of work. It is structured to provide opportunities for development of the intern in youth work programming in an international organisation and gain exposure to the work of member countries. Interns will gain appreciable knowledge in the history, institutions, structure, and programmes of the Commonwealth Secretariat. The internship is designed to assist young professionals in enhancing their current skills and developing new ones, and inject creativity, enthusiasm and entrepreneurial ideas to empower them to develop their career goals and to gain valuable experience.
Interns will be guided and supervised to develop work plans with general concentration in all three strategic programme areas of the CYP. Specific work responsibilities will be assigned by the line supervisor during the programme.
Minimum Qualifications:
? Not more than 29 years by 30 August 2013.
? A first degree in social sciences, humanities, or a related field is required with specialisations in youth development, development studies, social work, project management, etc. A candidate with a Commonwealth Diploma in Youth Work is deemed qualified. Candidates who have completed studies but haven’t received full certificates yet can apply with certified copy of transcripts/results.
? Candidates must demonstrate high abilities for innovation and creativity and strong analytical skills
? Candidates must be effective users of ICT tools and online engagement platforms including Google+, Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, and various social media and wiki platforms.
? Must be a national of a Commonwealth Country in Africa or UK, Cyprus, and Malta.
