VLIR-UOS is inviting PhD scholarship applications from ICP Graduates and last year ICP Students for ICP PhD Scholarships 2014. ICP PhD Scholarships program aims to institutionally strengthen universities or research institutions in the South through capacity building, by upgrading academic personnel at these research institutes or universities.
ICP PhD scholarship is offered to 10 individual students with excellent academic performance from Africa, Asia and Latin America who have studied in a VLIR-UOS funded international master course (ICP) in Flanders and wish to make a PhD at a Flemish university.
Eligibility Criteria –
- Applicant must be a national and resident of a developing country of the VLIR-UOS-country list that was applicable in the year s/he started ICP studies or be on the 54 list currently used for scholarships.
- Applicant must already have obtained the ICP Master’s degree when submitting the application, or should obtain it in the reference year, i.e. 2014.
- Applicant must have graduated from an ICP at a Flemish University with at least the grade of distinction or equivalent.
- Applicant must have good command over English language.
- Applicant must be from one of the 20 partner countries of VLIR-UOS – Africa (Burundi, DR Congo, Ethiopia, Ghana, Kenya, Morocco, Mozambique, Tanzania, Uganda, South Africa); Asia (India, Indonesia, Sri Lanka, Vietnam); or Latin America (Bolivia, Cuba, Ecuador, Nicaragua, Peru, Suriname).
Application form must be accompanied with research proposal; letters of recommendation (supervisor’s and co-supervisor’s); CV of supervisors; certificate of enrolment history as a scholarship candidate; Official admittance to the doctoral training program, issued by the Flemish university’s doctoral committee; Sworn statement concerning earlier remunerated work as assistant funded from the university’s operational budget; and Certificate by the local institution, relating to the institutional commitment.
