The Merck Africa Research Summit- MARS is being organizd by Merck, in collaboration with UNESCO, the Cambridge- Africa Programme at the University of Cambridge, and Universita di Roma, Italy. MARS aims at bringing together researchers from across Africa to discuss generation, sharing and dissemination of research data, and to prepare for the road head in Africa’s development as an international hub for research excellence and scientific innovation.
The annual summit aims to contribute to building research capacity in African research community on health, with special focus on ebola and emergent infectious diseases, to showcase innovative research taking place in projects, programs and initiatives across African universities, and by the wider African research community.
WORTH
- Up to 100 scientists/researchers will be fully sponsored by Merck to attend the summit in Geneva
- First three winners will be eligible for further number of research awards:
1st MARS Awards: 6 months fellowship in Merck R&D hub
2nd MARS Award: 1500 euro
3rd Award: 1000 euro
ELIGIBILITY
- Abstracts from final year African PhD students and young investigators involved in HIV, Ebola and other infectious disease research.
- Primarily based at Africa research institutes and universities, although collaboration within Africa as well as outside is encouraged.
