Human Rights and Democratisation in Africa is a one-year intensive course. 25-30 individuals are selected every year for the course. 6 months of the course takes place in University of Pretoria and the other 6 in one of the 13 partner universities in Africa. It is available in both LLM & MPhil for graduates of different disciplines.
The partnering universities are: Université d’Abomey-Calavi (Benin), Addis Ababa University (Ethiopia), University of Alexandria (Egypt), Catholic University of Central Africa (Cameroon), University of Nairobi (Kenya), Universidade Eduardo Mondlane (Mozambique), Université Gaston Berger de Saint Louis (Senegal), University of Ghana, University of Lagos (Nigeria), University of Mauritius, Makerere University (Uganda), University of Venda and the University of the Western Cape (South Africa).

Law students (LLM option):
A degree allowing access to the legal profession
• Non-law students (MPhil option):
An Honours degree in a discipline relevant to human rights and democratisation
