The Girl Generation and Youth Hub Africa Blog Competition: Together to End FGM – what can young people do to end FGM in Nigeria?

Did you know….

Nearly 20 million women and girls in Nigeria have undergone FGM .

In 2015, there was a landmark ban on FGM in Nigeria, and the international community have prioritised ending FGM in the new Global Goals under GOAL 5 – to achieve gender equality and empower all women and girls.

But there is still much to be done.

Nigerian youths CAN make a difference in this issue.

Have your voice heard, get published and profiled, on an international Blog.
Write a blog to express your thoughts and commitment to ending FGM in Nigeria, share your ideas of what needs to be done, and how young people in Nigeria can take the lead to end FGM in one generation.

The details:

Number of words: 750

The blog must be an original work and can include pictures or illustrations. Just be creative.

Age: You must be aged between 15 and 30 years old.

The winner will be notified by 1st of February, 2016. Only shortlisted entries will be notified.

What’s in it for you?

The winner will be published on Youthhubafrica and The Girl Generation blog on Zero Tolerance Day 2016 (6th February, 2016) , the global awareness day on ending FGM – read by an audience of about 500,000 within Nigeria and other countries. As well as being profiled on Youthhubafrica and The Girl Generation Social Media Platforms.

All entrants will receive a certificate of participation from The Girl Generation and the winner will be sponsored to attend The Girl Generation workshop on communicating to end FGM in Nigeria in 2016.
